Winter Services
The first winter, the Drive-In task force decided not to hold service outdoors; instead, they held a service every Sunday in a designated room at Fifth Reformed Church. Though this service was moderately successful, the next winter the task force felt a more neutral location would serve their purposes better, so they met indoors in a rented room at Eastbrook Mall. The attendance continued to grow all winter long.
In the summer of 1972, however, the Drive-In underwent a major change. The hay wagon was replaced by a permanent custom-made trailer (a mobile home-type unit), in which one side was modified with large sliding glass doors. In addition, volunteers buried a cable from that trailer to the concession stand, eliminating the need for set-up every Sunday morning. In the winter of 1972–1973, the task force decided to hold outdoor services, and we have been doing so ever since. Worship services are now held year round.
