Dear Pastor,
This monthly letter is intended to share news abut the unique opportunity offered by the Woodland Drive-In Church for anyone you may know that requires a different worship experiencetemporary or permanent.
In last months premier letter, I took the opportunity to provide you with an overview of this service organization, who it serves, and information about the format of the services. Remember: Woodland has never organized as a church, so my congregation actually numbers zero! Yet the guests who drive into this unique place of worship have touched my life deeply.
Take the Hoffmans, for instance. They have been attending the Drive-In for quite some time and represent one of the larger groups that make use of the worship experience we offer each week. This couple is about retirement age, and both individuals suffer from various medical conditions. Mrs. Hoffman is in constant pain as a result of a blood clot in her leg. The doctor
advised her to elevate her leg for relief from the pain, which is difficult to accomplish in a traditional church setting. Furthermore, Mr. Hoffman experiences severe back pain, but finds he can pad the seat of his car far more effectively than he could a church pew. The couple thanks God for the opportunity to worship regularly in relative comfort at the Drive-In.
If you know of someone who can get into a car, but for whatever reason, finds it impossible to attend a traditional church for an hour, I invite you to recommend the Drive-In. We greet each car as it enters the parking area, and I plan an uplifting service complete with Scripture, sermon, prayer, and music. Visitors tune to 1610 AM on their radio at 11:00 a.m. for our 45-minute
worship service.
You may wish to attend one of our services, so that you can gain a first-hand experience of our ministry. In any case, please feel free to call me during the day at 698-3471 and in the evenings at 235-2871, if you have questions.
In His Name,
Verlyn D. Verbrugge
